If your MacBook Pro has horizontal lines on the screen, you most likely have a faulty screen or connector. Your MacBook Pro GPU should be fine. IT-Tech Online is a leading Mac repair specialist in Melbourne; we can diagnose the problem for you and provide a free quote.

MacBook Pro 2011 graphics card fix
MacBook Pro 2011 GPU failure is widespread on the 15′" and 17" MacBook Pro 2011 models. We have developed a hardware solution to solve the problems permanently. We will remove the poor quality AMD GPU and rewire the LCD screen directly to the Intel intergraded graphics chip.

Since we rolled out this MacBook Pro 2011 GPU fix service in December 2016, when Apple ends the GPU recall program, we have done more than a thousand units with no single return for a second repair, no firmware upgrade issues, no PRAM reset issues and no software compatibility issues. It is the best permanent solution to the widespread 2011 MacBook Pro graphics card issue.

There are a few options for the MacBook Pro 2011 GPU repair. Don’t hesitate to get in touch with us along with your MacBook model and fault description. Our experienced staff will call you to discuss your options in detail.

Option 1: MacBook Pro 2011 Graphics Card Replacement
This MacBook Pro 2011 GPU fix is to replace the AMD graphics chip. It is impossible to use the newer GPU on the old logic board without radically altering its design. The economical and practical option is to use the original GPU to replace the faulty GPU. In fact, it is the temporary solution adopted by Apple in its faulty GPU recall program in 2016. The repaired MacBooks will fail again between 6-18 months due to the poor quality of the GPUs. We have a better solution. Therefore we do NOT recommend replacing the GPU.

However, if you have a special requirement to keep the GPU, we will replace the GPU for you. The costs of replacing the faulty GPU are $360 for MacBook Pro 2011 15-inch and $420 for MacBook Pro 2011 17-inch.

Option 2: Graphics Card MacBook Pro 2011 Removal
We have a permanent solution to the MacBook Pro 2011 graphics card issue. We remove the GPU and connect the LCD screen directly to the Intel integrated graphics chip. Your logic board will use the more reliable Intel graphics chip all the time. This is the best and permanent solution to fix the MacBook Pro GPU failure.

The repaired Mac laptop will run up to 20 degrees cooler, prolonging the life of your Mac computer. There are no noticeable differences when you surf the internet, Skype, watch YouTube videos, watch DVD/Blu-ray high definition videos, and so on. However, if you want to play games or do video editing, your Mac will run slower as the intergraded Intel graphics chip is not as powerful as the dedicated AMD graphics chip.

Also, as Apple disabled the external graphics function of the Intel integrated graphics chip by design and restoring this function is a time-consuming and costly task, you will not be able to connect to an external monitor via the Mini display port. If your application needs an external monitor, you can purchase a USB to HDMI converter and install software such as DisplayLink. We have a demo machine connected to an external monitor in our store. Feel free to try it out.

These MacBook Pro 2011 graphics card fixes are $320 for MacBook Pro 2011 15-inch and $370 for MacBook Pro 2011 17-

Option 3: MacBook Pro 2011 Logic Board Upgrade
We can upgrade the logic board of the 15" MacBook Pro 2011 to the 2012 model. The 15" MacBook Pro 2012 with a non-retina screen is equipped with a much more reliable Nvidia GPU. After basic modification, the  2012 logic board can fit nicely in the case of the 2011 MacBook Pro. The cost of this service is $660. Unfortunately, there is no upgrade option for the 17" MacBook Pro 2011.

Option 4: Replacement Logic Board Macbook Pro
This option will only apply to the Macbook Pro 15 inch  2012-14 MacBook Pro Retina model A1398. The costs are $600 for MacBook Pro 15 inch 2012 and $650 for MacBook Pro 15 inch 2013. We also stock limited logic boards for MacBook Pro 15 inch 2015. Please call us to check for availability.

MacBook Pro 2012 graphics card fix
The 15" MacBook Pro 2012 with retina screen also has graphics card problems but is not as common as the 2011 model. This 2012 MacBook Pro comes with an Nvidia GPU. Unlike the 2011 MacBook Pro, the graphics problem is NOT caused by the GPU. The graphics issue is caused by the power management circuit failing to deliver a reliable power supply to the Nvidia GPU. The common symptom is that the Mac will chime but no display.

The cost of a 15" MacBook Pro 2012 GPU fix is $370.

MacBook Pro 2010 graphics card fix
The 15" MacBook Pro 2010 also has graphics card problems. This 2010 MacBook Pro comes with an Nvidia GPU. The GPU panic issue is caused by the power management circuit failing to deliver a reliable power supply to the video RAM. The GPU relies on the video RAM to store the graphics data, so the GPU will not function properly. The common symptoms are intermittent crash, auto reboot and black screen.

The cost of a 15" MacBook Pro 2010 GPU fix is $320.

Graphics card failures are also widespread in iMac 2009-2011 models. If you are looking for iMac graphics card repair/replacement, please visit iMac Repair.
